Caplan Cobb has partnered with the Southern Center for Human Rights to sue the Georgia Public Defender Council (“GPDC”) for access to records about the large backlog of people sitting in Georgia’s jails and waiting for a criminal defense lawyer to be appointed to them.

According to an article published by Law360, not only has the GPDC failed to comply with the Open Records Act, the agency has charged higher fees for “substantially similar [previous] records” requests.
