Yesterday, Mike Caplan traveled to meet his client, Justin Chapman, who was being released from prison—a free man after almost 8 years of wrongful incarceration. Justin’s release follows the Georgia Supreme Court’s recent decision affirming, unanimously, the grant of Justin’s habeas petition. Mike, along with John Rains of Bondurant Mixson & Elmore, Frank Hogue, and a team of litigation support and investigators, worked tirelessly for Justin’s cause.
Mike shared some pictures of this special moment. Justin’s daughter, Chloe Chapman, was an infant when Justin was first accused of arson and murder in 2006. She is the proud 9-year-old in the second photo, beaming at her first sight of her father outside of prison walls.
Justin, who has no criminal record, is on the hunt for gainful employment in or around Forsyth, Georgia. Justin is thoughtful, disciplined, and gracious. Please contact us if you know of any leads.
