On Tuesday, the Georgia Supreme Court issued a unanimous opinion holding that records of government contractors are public records and that members of the public can request copies of those public records directly from contractors. Caplan Cobb’s Sarah Brewerton-Palmer and Katie W. Gamsey (along with co-counsel Peter Canfield) submitted an amicus curiae brief in the case on behalf of the Georgia First Amendment Foundation, urging the Court to rule as it did.

The Court’s opinion reaffirms Georgia’s commitment to open access to public records and ensures that Georgia’s sunshine laws apply equally to government contractors. You can read about this case and Caplan Cobb’s role in it in the Daily Report, the Georgia Recorder, and the Center Square.
