Business Litigation & Counseling.  Ashley has experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of complex commercial matters, including breach-of-contract disputes, employment disputes, securities matters, and class actions.  She has represented large and small companies, individuals, non-profits, and municipal and federal governments in both state and federal court.  Ashley also has experience providing counseling and advice on a variety of other legal issues affecting businesses.

Appellate Practice.  In her two years clerking for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and her year clerking for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Ashley developed a deep understanding of federal civil and criminal practice.  As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, she regularly represented the United States in the Sixth Circuit and argued cases before the Court.  Ashley has worked on appeals addressing several challenging areas of law, such as privacy and technology issues; constitutional claims, particularly those involving the Fourth Amendment; ineffective-assistance-of-counsel claims; and habeas cases.  She has adapted her knowledge of federal substantive and procedural law to appeals before state appellate courts.
